Endodontics - Root Canal Treatment Warsaw

Endodontics Warsaw

Dental root canal treatment — otherwise known as endodontic treatment — deals with diseases of the pulp and periapical tissues that are inflamed. Root canal treatment is necessary for caries that have not been treated for a long time. In a situation where the process of caries is not stopped, at the level of dentin it reaches the pulp of the tooth—pulpitis occurs and then root canal treatment will be necessary. In our clinic, we use a specialized microscope for root canal treatment. The root canal treatment is carried out by dentist Kamila Kulkowska.

Root canal treatment under a microscope gives you the opportunity to preserve a heavily infected tooth without having to pull it out. A tooth that has been treated with a root canal can remain in the patient's mouth for many years. Having as many of your own teeth as possible is very important for the proper functioning of the chewing organ.

What is root canal treatment?

This type of treatment caries consists in removing the inflamed pulp from the tooth chamber and decontamination of the root canals. Root canal treatment under a microscope is used in difficult cases — when traditional endodontic treatment may not bring the desired results. In order to know the structure of the tooth — the number of canals and their course, as well as to assess the condition of the periapical tissues in the first place, we start by taking an X-ray of the tooth or the entire oral cavity.

Root canal treatment is not a painful procedure, as it is carried out under local anesthesia, thanks to which the patient does not feel pain. Greater sensitivity can occur when the anesthesia stops working, however, after a short time the pain should subside. A tooth treated endodontically, that is, devoid of pulp, is a dead tooth. It is not subject to nutritional processes. Still, preserving your own tooth with root canal treatment is the best solution. In some cases, re-endodontic treatment is necessary on a tooth that has already been treated with a root canal. Such a procedure is called reendo. It is necessary in case of the appearance of inflammation.

Stages of root canal treatment:

  • The doctor directs the patient to a tomographic examination, in order to find out the exact degree of infection of the pulp.
  • The doctor then discusses the entire treatment process with the patient.
  • On the day of surgery, the endodontist separates the diseased tooth from the rest with a gum called a cofferdam.
  • From the infected root canals removes diseased pulp.
  • The doctor measures the length of the ducts with the endometrium and performs a rinse to remove any remnants of the pulp.
  • Then the channels are filled with gutta-percha, that is, a natural material, fully accepted by the body.
  • At the last stage of root canal treatment, the endodontist proceeds to the restoration of the crown of the tooth.

What are the symptoms of infection of the pulp of the tooth?

Disturbing symptoms that may indicate the need for root canal treatment include:
  • advanced caries,
  • dull pain in the place affected by caries,
  • sensitivity when touching the tooth area,
  • pain when eating cold and hot products,
  • enlargement of the lymph nodes,

How long does caries treatment take?

The duration of caries treatment depends on the degree of development and depth of the defect. On average, the procedure takes about an hour. The procedure is carried out under local anesthesia.

How much does root canal treatment cost?

The cost of root canal treatment depends on the number of canals, the degree of caries and whether the tooth has any additional canals, e.g., in the molars. Sometimes endodontics is combined with Prosthetic supplements, this also affects the overall cost of treatment. For more information, please visit our pricelist.

Root canal treatment with the use of a microscope significantly increases the accuracy of the performed procedure and, above all, allows the further functioning of the tooth. To take advantage of the treatment, we invite you to our office in Warsaw — located in the Bemowo district.
